Goodwill San Antonio Celebrates Goodwill Week May 5-11 with Expanded Career Training Courses and Community Events

Every year during the first full week of May, Goodwill organizations across the U.S. and Canada celebrate Goodwill Week to shine the light on the transformative impact of their programs and services in the communities they serve. Goodwill San Antonio is announcing a series of events and initiatives aimed at empowering individuals with essential career skills and employment opportunities. 

To cater to the evolving needs of today’s workforce, Goodwill is expanding its career training courses to offer online Pharmaceutical and Administrative Professional classes and weekend Commercial Driver License classes. These programs, like all of Goodwill’s workforce development services, are provided at no cost to community members. To learn more about Goodwill’s program offerings, individuals are encouraged to visit goodwillsa.org or attend the two program open houses hosted by Goodwill on Thursday, May 9th. 

Additional events during Goodwill Week include: 

Single Employer Job Fair with Alorica 

 Wednesday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 10940 Laureate Drive, Bldg. 1900, 78249 (Next to Subway) Goodwill San Antonio will host a single employer job fair featuring Alorica, who is seeking to fill 60 customer service/sales positions. On-the-spot interviews will be conducted. 

Goodwill Good Careers Academy Open House 

Thursday, May 9th, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 406 W. Commerce St., 78207 The Good Careers Academy provides industry-recognized certifications for Medical Assistant, Nurse’s Aide, and Pharmacy Technician. Community members are invited to tour the Academy, meet the staff, and receive assistance with enrollment. 

Goodwill Good Careers Center & Digital Literacy Classroom Open House 

Thursday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 3401 Fredericksburg Rd., 78201 Community members are invited to visit one of Goodwill’s Good Careers Centers to access free employment placement services, including resume writing, job search assistance, interview training, and more. Additionally, the Digital Literacy Classroom at this location will be open for questions about their free computer knowledge skills for individuals of all experience levels. 

Thanks to the generosity of local donors and shoppers, Goodwill repurposed about 22.7 million items in 2023, which helped create and sustain GOOD JOBS for close to 1,800 team members and placed over 1,100 people into meaningful employment.
